Thumbs up This forum.........

Welcome to the SS Totenkopf Honor Ring and Private Purchase Jewelry forum..
Some of you might know me from the GDC Honor Ring forum. I've been collecting military related rings [among other things!] since the mid 1970's. There's always room for another forum dealing with jewelry so here I am and lets get to it..

This is the place to discuss and study these wonderfully personal of items from the 3rd Reich..The SS Totenkopf Honor ring [called the HR for short] isn't the only official 3rd Reich ring, there are others. We'll eventually get to discuss them, and go into the world of collecting private purchase rings..

Private purchase rings were very popular from WW 1 thru out the 3rd Reich period and beyond. Anyone with the money could purchase one! Widely popular around the world Germany had a dizzying amount of patterns available to buy. Unit rings, 'anti-partisan rings, Westwall rings, Skulls, Runes etc. What young HJ boy wouldn't have wanted a cool snarling skull ring,,and even available with those red eyes!! Wives, parents often bought rings as presents for their soldier family members. Soldiers often bought some very fine rings for themselves, and more than one..

Head of the SS Himmler himself was a 'ring man'. Of course wearing his HR he's been known to wear up to 3 rings on one hand! and sometimes 2 on one finger!
Goring too, stories of him about his rings and jewelry are legendary. So every soldier no matter what branch of service or Para-military organization he was in could have the ring of their dreams and not feel bad about wearing them.

This forum will also be used to discuss other jewelry of the period. Whether is cufflinks, broaches, tie clips and maybe even sneak in some stic pins!, Construction methods, embellishments, design,,we can even get into the fable of the infamous SS castle and the buried rings!

Everyone is welcome here. Please just follow a common rule,,treat others how you yourself would like to be treated. A little politeness and patience is appreciated. And, please no 'it's a copy' answers,,,if your confident enough to condemn a piece please explain why so others can learn.. Thanks and have a good time...,G.
